The Pacific Coast Highway was official designated Highway 1 in 1964 and is 550 miles of exhilarating motorcycle riding on coastal roads. While driving you motorcycle along this road, you will find yourself riding through beautiful seaside towns and witnessing amazing views of the Pacific Ocean.
Places To Stop
Some of the towns you will travel through include Crescent City, Eureka, Santa Rosa, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Maria, Los Angeles and San Diego. The North Side of your trip can include stops at Pelican State Beach near the Six Rivers National Forest along with the rugged redwood forests of Northern California. Some other interesting stops along the route include:

Things To Keep In Mind
There are a few things to keep in mind if you are considering taking this motorcycle road trip; taking this route in the summer can be slow with very heavy RV traffic along the route and the Pacific Coast’s marine layer has limited visibility & wet roads that can pretty rough between Santa Cruz and San Francisco.
For the most unobstructed views of the ocean you should plan on taking route from North to South.
