Yamaha Motor Corporation has starting releasing their 2013 motorcycle line-up and the Yamaha FJ1300A touring bike features a list of upgrades and enhancements that will make long distance and local travel more comfortable and enjoyable.
Yamaha FJ1300A
The FJ1300A has been available in the United States since 2003 and has done well for Yamaha in the sport touring class. New for 2013, the FJ1300A will come with a range of new electronic features that will give riders an option of two drive modes, traction control and cruise control.
The Yamaha FJ1300A Chip Control Throttle
The Yamaha FJ1300A Chip Control Throttle, currently used in Yamaha Sportbikes, is now standard on the FJ1300A. Sport and Touring Modes can be selected based on the drivers’ needs. Sport mode offers more spirited throttle response, while the touring mode offers a more consistent response through the rev range. The Cruise control works similarly to that found on an automobile, set the button at the desired speed and then a plus or minus button allows the driver to increase or decrease speed. Finally, traction control can also be turned on or off at the switch of a button, working with wheel speed sensors when on, the traction control provides wheel grip under any driving condition.
The 2013 Yamaha FJ1300A Cosmetic Changes
Upgraded for 2013 is the electronically adjustable windscreen. In addition to moving faster and more fluidly, when the motorcycle is turned off, the position of the windscreen is maintained. The front fairing has a more aerodynamic look and feel that offers better protection under different weather conditions. The side cowl can now be adjusted, without the need for any tools, to provide even more protection from the wind. The gauge cluster has also been redesigned to include a menu to choose from that includes trip calculators, mpg ratings, and heated grip settings.
Suspension Improvement on the FJ1300A
With a new aluminum piston rod and plunger, modified front and rear springs, and a revamped fork design, the Yamaha FJ1300A offers comfort and agility on winding roads.
Expected to arrive in Yamaha Dealerships in October of 2013, all these improvements only increase the retail price a mere $300.00, for a total MSRP of $15,890. A 12-volt power plug will also come on the new FJ1300A and the available color for 2013 is Stone Gray.
