Throttle Cable Issue Results In 7000 Dirtbikes Being Recalled

KTM North America, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, is recalling thirteen different models of dirtbikes. Eleven of the recalled models are KTM dirtbikes, while the other two models are Husaberg dirtbikes.

The KTM dirtbikes being recalled are all 2013 model year dirtbikes as listed below:

  • 85 SX
  • 85 SXS
  • 125 SX
  • 150 SX
  • 150 XC
  • 200 XC-W
  • 250 SX
  • 250 XC
  • 250 XC-W
  • 300 XC
  • 300 XC-W

The Husaberg dirtbikes being recalled include 2012 and 2013 models years:

Although no incidents or injuries have been reported, consumers are being advised to stop using the above listed dirtbikes being recalled and contact a KTM or Husaberg to schedule a free repair.

On the dirtbikes being recalled, the throttle cable may malfunction.  The throttle cable malfunction can cause the throttle to become uncontrollable, resulting in serious injury to the rider.

It should be noted that consumers who purchased any of the above dirtbikes from a private party should contact a KTM or Husaberg dealer to ensure that they are recorded as the current owner, thus being notified of any warranty or recall issues in the future.
