AMA News For Motorcyclists

Finally some good news from the federal government for motorcycle owners!  Currently on the floor of the House, and if approved, will move to the Senate for approval; is a bill to the continued funding to States to develop and maintain trails and a ban of granting funding to States for motorcycle-only checkpoints.

The AMA (American Motorcycle Association) has been trying to get the motorcycle-only checkpoints stopped since they started in New York a few years ago. Instead of pulling over motorcycles for random inspections, the AMA feels the money would be better spent promoting motorcycle safety, especially car driver awareness.

As for the funding for developing and maintaining trails, the Recreation Trails Program (RTP) would have possibly ended without the dedicated funding presented in this bill.

Working for the rights, safety and continued education of all motorcyclists, the AMA continues to be the strongest advocate for the industry.
