The Yamaha FZ8 sportbike is larger than the FZ6 and yet smaller than the FZ1, making it a great choice for someone ready to move out of the 600cc range and not quite looking to be at the 1000cc range. For the 2013 model year, the Yamaha FZ8 is seeing cosmetic, suspension and engine changes for performance and comfort.
The 2013 Yamaha FZ8 Cosmetic Changes
For 2013, the Yamaha FZ8 has a new seat cover. This new seat cover offers a better seat grip and a nicer appearance with a textured surface and suede looking side panels. Another cosmetic change is the sportier looking muffler that modernizes the appearance of the bike. Both the new seat and muffler look great against the matte gray and black color of the bike.
The 2013 Yamaha FZ8 Suspension Upgrades
Suspension is upgraded on the Yamaha FZ8 in both the front and rear of the motorcycle. The 43mm inverted fork now has pre-load and rebound adjustability at the top and additional compression adjustability at the bottom of the fork. The shock now has a stiffer rate shock spring and rebound adjustability in addition to the pre-load adjustability seen on previous year models. When combining the changes to both the front and rear shock, riders now have 5.1 inches of suspension travel.
The 2013 Yamaha FZ8 Engine Upgrades
New fuel injection settings give the FZ8 a quicker rev and sportier feel. Although the only real change in the engine specifications, this will enable the driver a more direct feeling from the throttle to the rear wheel. The engine design comes from a previous Yamaha YZ-F R1 design so power is delivered evenly along the entire rpm range along with excellent torque.
Yamaha Dealerships will have the 2013 FZ8 on their showroom floors in February of 2013. Starting at an MSRP of $8890, the new 2013 Yamaha FZ8 is worth a look.
