Yamaha Motor Corporation recently held their annual dealer convention in Las Vegas, Nevada and unveiled the 2014 Yamaha FZ-09 to dealers. The 2014 Yamaha FZ-09 will replace the FZ-08 with some major improvements including price.  MSRP on this new bike will be $7990, $800 than the FZ-08, not only has the price lightened up, the bike has as well.

Yamaha engineers designed a Crossplane Concept three-cylinder engine for the 2014 Yamaha FZ-09 that was based on the world championship-winning MotoGP crossplane crankshaft inline four-cylinder engine used in the Yamaha R1.  The three-cylinder engine has power similar to that found in the in-line four, however it is compact, very narrow, very lightweight, and has tremendous torque and high horsepower.

The fuel-injected 847cc, liquid-cooled engine is on an aluminum frame.  The 2014 Yamaha FZ-09 also has Yamaha’s YCC-T ride-by-wire throttle system, D-mode with three throttle position settings, an adjustable suspension and variable throttle intake lengths.

Being such a narrow bike, plenty of consumers will fit comfortably on the FZ-09.  Consumers who once wished for a Yamaha R1 or Yamaha R6 may find $7,990 way more affordable then $11,000 or $12,000 and still get a lot of enjoyment from this new bike.

The 2014 Yamaha FZ-09 should be hitting showroom floors in September 2013 and will be available in Liquid Graphite or Rapid Red.
