Harley-Davidson Clutch Recall

Harley-Davidson is currently conducting a recall on over 29,000 models built between May 3, 2013 and October 14, 2013 for a safety issue.  The models all use a hydraulic clutch system that may not be able to generate enough lift to disengage the clutch.  Disengagement of the clutch is what gives riders the ability to slow down or stop the motorcycle; the inability of the clutch to disengage could result in an accident.

Owners of the affected models in the Harley-Davidson Clutch Recall will be receiving Do Not Ride notices and dealers Do Not Deliver notices until the motorcycle has been repaired.  Consumers who receive the Do Not Ride notice are instructed to call their local Harley-Davidson dealer immediately.  The dealer will then pick up, inspect and if necessary, repair the motorcycle at no cost to the consumer. Although the repair is expected to take only an hour or two, with over 29,000 motorcycles involved in the recall, consumers may have to wait a day or two to pick up their motorcycle.

Concerned consumers who may not have received the notice can contact their local Harley Davidson dealer with their VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) to ensure their motorcycle is not included in the recall.
