Honda XR650LaIf you are looking for the best of both worlds, you can find motorcycles that you can ride on and off road. Fulfilling the needs of riders everywhere, take the bike to work all week and then hit the trails. All of these models come with electric start, boast great fuel economy and have compact speedometers.  They can be found both new and used to fit any budget. Choose from one of these popular street legal dirt bikes:

 HONDA XR650L – Starting new at $6690.00, this motorcycle has a 644cc single cylinder four-stroke engine with a 5-speed transmission.  The large engine displacement gives you the power to take the bike with confidence on the highway and also have powerful performance off-road.  It has an air-cooled engine and a fuel tank capacity of 2.8 gallons.

HONDA CRF230L – A used Honda CRF230L can be found for under $4000.00.  A much smaller engine than the XR650L, this 223cc, single cylinder, four stroke motorcycle has disc brakes and is perfect for commuting around town, or taking it with the RV.  This durable bike has a gas tank that holds 2.3 gallons of gas and is also considered a good starter bike.

 KAWASAKI KLR650 – You can find this bike new for around $6299.00. Liquid-cooled with a 651cc engine and a 5-speed transmission, this bike also has some cool features that come stock.  It has an adjustable suspension, a rear cargo rack, and a gas tank that holds 5.8 gallons of fuel.

 SUZUKI DRZ400 – This bike starts at around $6199 new, although you can find used ones for under $4000.00.  With a 398cc, 5-speed, liquid-cooled engine, it is durable both on and off road under most conditions.  The fuel capacity for this bike is 2.6 gallons and it also comes with a rear fender pouch on the back.

SUZUKI V-STROM ABS – This bike comes with a 645cc liquid-cooled, v-twin engine and has a 6-speed transmission, fuel injection and ABS brakes.  Some of the other neat features include the 5.3 gallon fuel tank and the 3-way height adjustable windscreen and options for a lower or higher seat to fit the rider. This bike starts at around $8099.00.

This should give you a good overview on what’s available for both on and off-road riding. There are a wide range of choices to fit the size, budget and needs of any rider.
