Honda Recalls Motorcycles and Personal Watercraft

Two Major American Honda Recalls in Two Days

At the time of this release, the only information available on the CBR500 recalls are the models that Honda dealers are being told not to sell along with their matching VIN numbers.  American Honda has indicated that part repair kits will begin shipping on February 17, 2014, the same day they will issue the details to dealership service departments.

Specific Models of Honda Motorcycles recalled are:

·        2013   CBR500R

·        2013   CBR500RA

·        2013   CB500F

·        2013   CB500FA

·        2013   CB500X

       ·        2013   CB500XA

The Honda Watercraft is being recalled for a potentially defective fuel tank.  Although a permanent fix has not been announced, Honda dealers are being advised to contact the Honda Tech line for interim instructions.  Parts will not be as readily available as on the motorcycle recall, so consumers may want to get their vehicles in for service as soon as possible.

Specific Models of Honda Watercraft recalled are:

  • 2004-2006       ARX1200N2
  • 2002-2007       ARX1200N3
  • 2003-2007       ARX1200T2
  • 2002-2007       ARX1200T3
  • 2005-2007       ARX1200T3D

Customer notification letters will be mailed during the first week of March, 2014.  However, customers do not need to wait for a letter to find out if their motorcycle or watercraft is being recalled. All authorized Honda dealers will be able to check immediately once provided with a customer VIN number, that can be found on the vehicle or state registration papers.  Consumers should also be aware that if they purchase one of the models listed above from a private party, they should notify American Honda Motor Corporation or a local Honda dealer and supply them with new owner information in order to be sure they are contacted for any and all recalls.
