Honda Portable Generators Being Recalled; The Honda EU2000i

With the need for portable generators after Hurricane Sandy hit and as winter weather approaches, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. has announced the recall of a series of Honda Portable Generators due to a faulty fuel hose.

Honda Portable Generators with the model designation EU2000i and with serial numbers EAAJ-2260273 through EAAJ-2485025 should be taken back to the purchasing location for an immediate inspection and possible repair to prevent fire and burn hazards that could be caused by a faulty fuel hose.

Over 150,000 of these Honda Portable Generators were sold in the United States between October of 2011 through September of 2012 at a retail price ranging from $1150 to $1400.  Several Retail establishments sell these portable generators, including Honda Power Equipment Dealers, Gander Mountain, Grainger, Camping World, John Deere, Hertz Rental, Northern Tools, National Pump & Compressor, Scheels Sporting, Sportsman’s Warehouse, True Value, Sunbelt Rentals, White Cap, United Rentals, Wholesale Sports and they can also be purchase online.

If you are not sure of your model number, the Honda Portable Generators, EU2000i, are red and black or camouflage color, and dimensions of 20 inches by 11.5 inches by 16.5 inches. Also, the side of the portable generators will have the words: “Honda”, “EU Converter” and “2000i” written on them and some may have the word “companion” on the side as well.  These are gasoline-powered portable generators that can be used for various power needs.
