2012 Suzuki Burgman Scooter and V-Strom Motorcycle Recalls

Starting February 13, 2012, owners of some 2012 Suzuki Burgman scooters and V-Strom motorcycles may be getting letters from American Suzuki Motor Corporation directing them to their nearest dealers for a recall.  Apparently, faulty brake light switches can be a potential issue in approximately 1300 vehicles.

Those people owning either the 2012 AN400 Burgman or the 2012 AN650 Burgman will find that their scooters won’t start, the switch must be working prior to the vehicle even starting.  This is actually a great safety feature to prevent mishaps when brake lights are not working.  Unfortunately, the 2012 DL650 V-Strom will still start, but the faulty switch could prevent the brake lights from working properly, increasing the chances of a crash or accident.

The dealer will replace the actuating brake switch for free.  Be sure to call your dealer in advance to make sure they have the switch in stock, otherwise they can order it for you and call you when it comes in, saving you a trip.  If you don’t receive a letter from Suzuki, but are concerned your scooter or motorcycle may involve a recall, just call your local dealer with your VIN number in hand and they can check it.  You can also contact Suzuki at 714-996-7040.
