Yamaha Motor Corp. introduced the 2009 Yamaha Zuma 125 scooter to the public in September of 2008. This cool scooter has a 123cc, 4-stroke engine and is fuel injected. Based off the smaller version, the Yamaha Zuma 50, the Yamaha Zuma 125 was designed for consumers who were looking for a little more power and room while enjoying convenient, fun and fuel-efficient transportation.
Those consumers who purchased the Yamaha Zuma 125 from its debut through the 2009 model year should watch out for a letter involving a recall on their scooter. It has been reported by Yamaha that the Zuma 125s manufactured between July 2008 through April 2009 are experiencing issues with engine stalling. Improper clearances in the internal fuel pump components are causing an inadequate fuel supply to the engine, thus resulting in the Yamaha Zuma 125 stalling.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that they were investigating complaints into the engine stalling issue in November.
Yamaha Motor Corp. will begin sending letters to owners of those scooters affected by the recall on February 19, 2013. Owners can then take their Yamaha Zuma 125 to the nearest Yamaha Scooter Dealer where they will get a redesigned fuel pump installed free of charge.
Owners of the 2009 Yamaha Zuma 125 scooter can contact Yamaha at 1-800-962-7926 with any questions or concerns.
